Javon Hering

Special Teams Coordinator 

Javon Hering was brought in as the Special Teams Coordinator prior to the Minnesota Myths first season. He began career at the collegiate level as a punter at the University of Minnesota-Crookston (D-II) before transferring to South Dakota State University (FCS) where he finished his studies in Sociology and Criminal Justice. Minnesota raised, Hering graduated from Eastview High School in Apple Valley, MN. Hering was nationally ranked as the 13th best punter in the class of 2014. 

Hering got his first opportunity coaching while in college, serving as a volunteer specialist coach at Eastview. In 2019, Coach Hering jumped at the opportunity to coach at Carleton College (D3) in Northfield, MN where the special team’s unit and specialist group finished top 3 in the conference across all major statistical categories. In 2021, Hering made the leap to Midwestern State University (D2) in Texas as the Specialist Coach. While at MSU, Hering’s athletes received all-conference, all-region, all-texas honors and statistically ranked in the top 15 of all D2 programs in the nation while setting program records along the way. Hering’s Specialist group played a big role in securing the 2021 Lone Star Conference Championship as well. Coach Hering served as the guest punting coach for the University of Arkansas’ Razorback Specialist Camp in 2022. In 2022, Hering took on a more involved role at Missouri Western State University in Missouri as the Specialist Coach. For the 2023 season, With his 8 years of coaching and training experience with athletes at all levels from beginner to professional, Coach Hering is excited to join the Minnesota Myth.
